Do I need to get my irons fitted?
I am looking to buy a new set of irons. I’m 6′3″ and have been playing with Taylormade Firesoles standard length/lie. I strike the ball well and am wondering if I need to get the new set fitted.
I would like to by a set off ebay since they are cheaper than buying form Golfdom or Golf Galaxy. If I should get them fitted, how much can I expect to pay for the fitting and any adjustments that I may need. Also, other than the stores mentioned, where else can I get this done?
If you are going to be buying new irons, spend the extra few dollars, find a good pro who has a reputation for fitting clubs and consult with him. He will determine the shaft length, the lie angle, the swing weight, the shaft flex the head configuration. and these will be fitted to your swing speed .You can always negotiate a price with the pro and then be satisfied that the irons fit you and no one else. Look at it this way! How many sets do you expect to purchase in your golfing lifetime? Why not go for the best!!
