Golf Shop

this is a question for the people that own a golf shop?
when you buy a golf club straight from the manufacturer how much does it cost like the ft-i it costs 399$ how much would you get it for?
And how much is a box of 12 pro v1
It is obvious that these guys are not in the business. Or ever have been.
Standard retail gross margin from most of the golf manufacturers is between 26-30%. So the $400 retail driver cost the shop between 280 and 320 plus shipping. And shipping can really add up these days. So the shop generally makes less than $100 on a driver sale. Now if you place larger orders (like $25000 at a time or more) and pay invoices 30 or more days before they are due you can improve your margins by up to an additional 10% or so. But that is a huge cash outlay to shave a couple of points, so not very many operators have the luxury to do so.
Margins are even worse on Pro Vs (about 32/dozen + shipping), Foot Joy shoes (25% profit margin), and most golf bags.
Where the operator can actually make money is with clothing and repair services. Clothing is considered “keystone” which means the price tag is twice the cost. Repairs can be very lucrative as you are selling a product (a grip or shaft) along with a service (installation of that product) where you are charging for your time.
Believe it or not, E-bay is a very good indicator of wholesale pricing, as most new golf clubs on E-bay are priced at almost exactly what the dealer had to pay for them. There is just not very much money in club sales.
