Which is better: Silent Auction or Raffle?

This is a fund raiser for a cancer victim. The items being offered range in value from $20-100. Some would be possilby geared at women and others at men (a spa day or a round of golf, for example)
We are considering 3 options:
1. A general entry raffle where the tickets are drawn to see who wins from lowest value to highest value.
2. A raffle where each item has its own jar for people to put tickets into if they want to try to win that item. All tickets will be the same price and they can buy as many as they want and spread them among the various items.
3. A silent auction with sheets for people to fill in their bid for the items they would like.
Does anyone have input regarding which one works best for this price range selections?

I like option 2 the best, but if you have the right people bidding in the silent action, it is a very efective way to raise big money. If you have people who will not bid over the value of it, go for the raffle.
