What cars share a starter motor with a 1999 (V-Reg) VW Polo 1.9 Diesel?
The starter motor in my VW Polo has died, I don’t have the money for a brand new part (I’m a poor masters student) and was wondering whether any other cars shared the same starter motor so I could pick one up from a scrap yard. There aren’t too many (none that I’ve found!!) 1.9D polos around. I’m fairly certain that it shares the same engine as the Mk III Golf 1.9 Diesel but without the turbo, can anyone confirm this, and are there any others??

The same engine is/was used in any 1.9-litre diesel cars and/or vans from VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda.
The most common are likely to be the VW Golf and Polo, Audi 80, Skoda Felicia and Seat Ibiza.
The later SDi and turbocharged TD and TDi engines may use the same starter motor.
