Golf Fitness Training Program

Why Do People Fear Golf Weight Training Programs?
In the modern game of golf it is not uncommon to see that the top professionals have embraced the idea of weight training as a way to improve their golf, however this is not without some controversy in the amateur and non-professional ranks. While there are not many controversies overall in the sport of golf it seems that the idea of weight training is one that has stuck around for a while, but in reality most of the issues that people have with are not based on fact.
For some reason people believe that if they participate in a golf weight training program that they’ll suddenly sprout a whole bunch of giant muscles that will impede their ability to swing a golf club, or that they training they undertake will just be too strenuous and they won’t have the energy to play if they spend too much time training this way.
The truth is, these fears are pretty much completely unjustified as most golf training programs have done no harm whatsoever to golfers well into their 80s. Not to mention that even young and even women golfers have been able to take part in the program with absolutely no ill effects. So it’s fair to say that regardless of your age or current level of fitness you should have no problem undertaking a golf weight training program designed correctly.
What you have to remember is that a golf weight training program is actually designed to increase strength and not to help you build massive muscles like a bodybuilder. The way in which you use the weights is completely different in a golf weight training program in that you are more likely to do many repetitions using a low weight as opposed to using a much heavier weight as you would in body building or if you were trying to build muscle mass.
In tandem with building strength most golf weight training programs will incorporate elements of stretching into the routine and this is very important when you put it into the context of your golf swing. You want to ensure that you retain the flexibility in your muscles and being able to correctly stretch is very important in this respect.
So, it goes without saying that most of the fears about golf weight training programs are not justified and if you are serious about developing your game for the better you should consider it an important part of your training program.
